GETTING THE JOB AT HOGWARTS and a warm bed and a potion to keep the Wolf at bay and steady income and a full plate three times a day. SECURITY.

Also he was an amazing teacher and he had to have known he was an amazing teacher and he clearly put a lot of effort in and enjoyed it and despite bad things going on I think the entire year was okay for him

we’ll skip Harry’s 6^th year literally not one moment of goodness there except for frequent dinners at the weasleys

Tonks? clearly he fell in love with her for a reason and he had insecurity issues but he genuinely enjoyed her company (even though he hated himself for it and was determined to keep her at bay)

like marrying tonks? finally accepting that he was, idk, worthy of love, letting himself be loved, accepting her love and letting himself love her? that’s so huge???!???

going back home and reuniting with tonks after harry chewed him out. okay and that was actually a miserable year but he had his wife and a home and that’s all he could ask for?

but then also, TEDDY

I could write a paragraph or ten about this but that first moment when he held THIS CHILD that was his and TONKS and he wasn’t an abomination or a werewolf, he was just a baby, a precious baby, his son

When JAMES POTTER’S son was godfather to his own son (OUCH?)

those few weeks with his wife and his son

and you know what, this is actually a pathetic list of happy things because overall remus’s life was, in genearl, very sad and miserable, but he was such a great guy and always taking the moral high ground and trying to encoruage the poeple around him to keep their cool and remus is jk’s example that shitty circumstances do not an asshole make
